Shuko Tetsubin Teapot
Mokichi Shuko is recognized as having reached Zen enlightenment through tea drinking! Later, as a result of this experience, he developed the Japanese tea drinking ceremony. We've named our beautiful blue tetsubin (cast iron teapot) in honor of this Tea Master.
This teapot has been created in the traditional way. Liquid iron is poured between two moulds. When cool, the moulds must be destroyed to release the iron. Therefore, only a single teapot can be created from any given set of moulds.
The inner surface is then coated with enamel, while the outer surface is either painted or buffed to a finish. A matching cast iron trivet completes this companion set -- ideal for the serious tea drinker!
