Old Borneo Baby Carrier-made from wood, Beads, Batik, and woven grass
The Kayan and Kenyah natives traditionally carry their babies in rattan back carriers with wooden bottoms. These carriers are elaborately decorated with beaded panels, Batik fabric and woven grass straps. It takes an experienced woman about three months to make a baby carrier with seed bead panels. Shillings and large beads are added as spiritual protection. Measures 14" x 13".
